Welcome to Our New Website — and Your First Step into Aikido

We’re excited to share our brand-new online home with you! At Aikido of Central New York, we’ve designed this site not only to be a source of information, but also to give you a glimpse into the energy, tradition, and community you’ll experience when you visit our dojo.

A Place Where Tradition Meets Today

Aikido isn’t just a martial art — it’s a journey. Rooted in the centuries-old discipline of the Samurai, it offers a path to self-defense, confidence, focus, and inner calm. Whether you’re stepping onto the mat for the first time or deepening years of practice, you’ll discover that Aikido is as much about personal growth as it is about physical skill.

Guided by Master Instruction

Our head instructor, Jonathan Reid Shihan (6th Dan), trained directly under the closest students of Aikido’s founder, Morihei Ueshiba. This direct lineage means you’re learning the art in its purest form — a rare opportunity to study under a teacher of teachers.

More Than a Class — A Community

We believe that every student, from the newest beginner to the most seasoned black belt, adds something special to our dojo. Here, you’ll find encouragement, respect, and a shared commitment to growth. It’s a place where you can challenge yourself while feeling supported every step of the way.

Your Invitation

Our new website is just the start — the real experience happens when you step onto the mat. That’s why we invite you to join us for a free introductory class. No experience necessary, just a willingness to learn and a pair of comfortable clothes.

Come feel the flow, the energy, and the connection that only Aikido can bring. Your first step into the dojo could be the beginning of something transformative.
